Connect to TED
TED has changed my perspective about different issues. I believe that connecting to TED is
a great resource for teachers. TED is a global community devoted to spreading ideas. That is exactly what teaching should
focus on. We spread ideas and hope that our students connect the dots and become inspired to think about and create bigger
and better ideas.
Teacheract.com is about spreading the word about great teachers and about spreading and
sharing ideas to promote great teaching and best practices.
"TED is owned by The Sapling Foundation, a private nonprofit foundation, a 501(c)3 organization under US tax code. It was established
in 1996 by Chris Anderson, who was at that time a magazine publishing entrepreneur.
The goal of the foundation is to foster the spread of great ideas. It aims to provide a platform for the world's smartest
thinkers, greatest visionaries and most-inspiring teachers, so that millions of people can gain a better understanding of
the biggest issues faced by the world, and a desire to help create a better future. Core to this goal is a belief that there
is no greater force for changing the world than a powerful idea."
Sounds familiar? Did you decide to become
a teacher because you believed that you could help change the world and create a brighter future? Did you believe that you
could be an inspiration to someone? Did you have a teacher who was the greatest single inspiration in your own life?
Connect to TED and I promise that you will discover some amazing ideas that will be worth spreading. I would love to attend
a TED conference or sponsor a TEDx event.
I look forward to reading your comments and receiving feedback. Stay
tuned for a Teacheract.com TEDx event in the near future.
